Excelente la alberca y la habitación muy confortable
Old hippy paradise. Peace and love and everyone is friendly. Lots of street dogs who also are friendly and well fed pack. Check out the Lake Chapala Society compound-Expat experts available and large English library.

The place is full of flies during the days and then mosquitos at night. The streets are terrible, made from broken stones and sand/cement, except for the tarmac main through road, which, as a result, is constantly busy or at a standstill. Cars cannot drive above 10mph in the side streets, hence the main road congestion.
The Lake seems polluted and nobody swims in there.
It's a boring little town, best avoided.
The only saving grace is there are lots of trees, and the have a very healthy aversion to cutting them down, even if this means building outbuildings and patio structures incorporating them. See the pictures below.

We loved the church bells ringing and the song birds singing. We weren’t so fond of the dogs barking in the night.
We loved the restaurants and the friendly people
but didn’t like the cobblestones underfoot or the dog poop left on the sidewalks.
We liked walking around the lake but noticed there wasn’t a lot of activity on the lake.
A big draw to Ajijic is the cost of living which is lower than in the coastal areas of Mexico. There is also the Chapala Society that offers programs to get involved with if you are staying a month or longer in Ajijic.

Ajijic is a strange place.
Ajijic is a strange place. Almost nothing to do for recreation other than walk around the town and eat. There are many good restaurants, but it would be nice to have some recreation options. Maybe we were there too early in the season in early Feb. The weather was cool-ish: Hi's in the high 70's, Lo's in the low 50's. Very, very dry. Did I say very dry? Great for sleeping and walking around. Really the only "recreation" we had was the heated swimming pool at our hotel. This was crucial. Our hotel was on the edge of the main town, and a 10 minute walk to the waterfront. It was very picturesque, but frankly kind of boring. A week is too long to stay in this town. 3 nights would probably be sufficient.

Ajijic was everything I expected from all the things I had read about it. Beautiful area. Lots of Americans, Europeans, and Canadians so that even though my Spanish was extremely limited, there were people everywhere to communicate with. Also many of the locals speak some English.

People were so friendly and helpful;.
People were so friendly and helpful;. The weather was wonderful.
There were so many really good restraunts. Everything was so nice that we returned another time and stayed at the same place. The owner, Elizabeth, is a truly classy lady, just like Casa del Sol. We have tried to book for a 3rd visit, but the B&B is so sold out...no surprise...Everyone wants to wake up to the wonderful breakfast served by the friendly staff.
It was the last minute reservation due to flight changes, but we are so glad they happened. This is a delightful, charming bed and breakfast in the heart of Ajijic. The location is excellent, right next to the Lake Chapala Society and two blocks to the Malecon. The staff and owner were very pleasant and accommodating. We particularly liked the inviting patio, kangen water in the room and excellent breakfast. The room was clean and large with comfortable beds. Having a cafe (El gato Feo) on site was a nice bonus.
Older building with Mexican feel.
Very clean and nicely laid out.
The staff from reception to night watch were exceptional!! Friendly accommodating. Did I forget to mention the food is fantastic!! No need to search for a good restaurant for dinner.
Breakfast is included and the coffee is great.
Within walking distance to the plaza and Malecon with many great shops along the way. Walmart is the best place and rates for banking.
I’d recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit the wonderful town of Ajijic!
A personable family run hotel & restaurant with amazing attention to customer needs e.g. honoured my diet restrictions in food prep, 'real' lemongrass tea to my room every am in a French Press with a homemade cookie. Location very convenient to many local sites.
Wish more businesses were run like Eric (owner) does with his operational oversight, staff relationships & customer focus, he truly is a leader par excellence!
Muchas gracias Eric & Team,
Monica
The room and the entire hotel was clean, the bed was great, the workers were extremely nice and helpful. The garden is a little oasis with a great view to the mountain. The breakfast was delicious (we had chilaquiles).
La habitación y todo el hotel estaban limpios, la cama era estupenda, el personal era muy amable y atento. El jardín es un pequeño oasis con una gran vista de la montaña. El desayuno era delicioso (comimos chilaquiles).
As someone who has been traveling around Mexico for the past few months and staying in quite a few hotels, it was such a pleasure to stay somewhere with such wonderful hospitality. Coffee and espresso available all day as well as jugs of filtered water throughout the premises. Breakfast included! And wonderful common areas to hang out alone or mingle with other guests.
The food served at the hotel was good. The ambiance of the restaurant area was lovely. There is no private parking at the hotel, but there are some parking spots on the street outside and there are security cameras. I was given a room upgrade at no cost, which was very kind of them to do, as it was my first time staying there.
This is a small property, more like a b&b than a hotel (only 4 rooms) but it has a lovely atrium restaurant and the food is exceptionally good! It is not fancy but very comfortable and friendly. It's like staying with friends.
This place is in the heart of Ajijic, literally a short walk from every happening thing. I wish I could say something critical to keep it for ourselves (🥰) , but this place and the hosts are wonderful.
A great hotel with very helpful and friendly staff.
Nice dining area with pool. All very tasteful and relaxing.
Close to all the nice bars, shops and restaurants.
The only good thing about this hotel is the location and the lakeside view. Other than that amenities are just standard.
Parking lot seem to have enough space.
